Saturday was a very exciting day for me as I love to visit new venues. The Macdonald Hotel and Spa, Manchester was the setting for the wedding of Jade and Rupert Butcher who said their vows here, in the presence of all their friends and family, a very special little bridesmaid- their lovely daughter Phoebe. Here I was to play the wedding songs for one of the most special moments of their life!
I arrived at the venue to find Michelle from Bow So Sweet dressing the room with a beautiful, white, wintery theme that you can see on my photographs. The room was divided off for the ceremony to be later opened up into a larger space for the wedding breakfast.
Wedding songs – The Couple’s Choice
The couple opted for ‘Heaven’ by Bryan Adams/DJ Sammy for Jade to walk down the aisle. (This is one of my favourite wedding pieces and there is a video at the bottom of the blog showing my performance of this for another wedding at Peckforton Castle.) Jade later told me how, as she heard the music being played, she struggled to hold back the tears as she set off down the aisle towards Rupert.
The couple opted for light hearted, upbeat choices for signing the register, and danced their way out of the ceremony to Steve Wonder singing ‘Signed Sealed Delivered’ with their guests following to celebrate.
The drinks reception was held in the hotel bar and then it was back upstairs for the wedding breakfast, with the couple entering the room to my rendition of ‘You’ve Got A Friend In Me.’
The couple were obviously enjoying catching up with all their guests during the meal and in between courses they tried to speak everyone, going around the room for a chat whilst I provided background music throughout. It was a lovely atmosphere and a great time was had by all.
Whilst there I met a lovely couple – Photoluminaire who were documenting the day with Photography, and also the boys from Starkfilm Weddings who were filming all the special moments.
Congratulations to Jade and Rupert and I wish you a lifetime of happiness!
