This photograph taken by Lesley Meredith Photography is of the absolutely stunning Megan who married Ant at Knowsley Hall in September.
She made an amazing entrance as I played an arrangement of ‘Save The World’ by Swedish House Mafia that I did especially for her. Megan, who is beautiful, would look fabulous in anything, but just look at that dress!!!!!!!!
I was thrilled to receive this lovely feedback after the wedding
“We were literally blown away the first time we heard Liz play the Piano at Knowsley Hall wedding open evening. We asked Liz to play some of our dance music favourites as a trial and we instantly felt the magic. We wanted to walk down the aisle to ‘Save the World’ by Swedish House Mafia and Liz provided us with a demo 🥰 it was perfect, romantic and so special so we booked straight away.
Liz playing at our wedding ceremony was pure magic. The music was beautiful, emotive, romantic and gives us goosebumps every time we listen back to the demos. We can’t wait to relive this in our ceremony video soon. Thank you for making it so perfect.
How professional was she? So professional from start to finish, from the demos which gave us a taster of the repertoire we wanted and our EDM faves. To the clear communication throughout covid and needing to move our dates. Would you recommend her to others? Yes – we already have ❤️
We will be forever grateful for the unforgettable performance at our wedding ceremony and we are very lucky to have met you. Thank you so so much, love Meg & Ant xxx”
Whenever I went to a wedding show at Ashfield House it always seemed that Liz was there playing too. Her piano music filled the entire venue and it just added to the brilliance of the venue – I knew I wanted that ambience at my big day! Liz is also the most warm and approachable person too so I was absolutely thrilled when I finally found out she had our date free and she could play our wedding day!
What effect did she have on your wedding at Ashfield House?
Huge! We’re massive music fans and Liz was just accommodating from start to finish! We had a few requests that Liz learnt for us and played like she’d know them forever! She’s an absolute talent! So many guests have commented on how fabulous Liz was! Not only her playing but just how much of a lovely person she is too! I do however apologise for how early our guests started singing along at the wedding breakfast haha! Liz’s playing is completely infectious and she’s just so lovely – you feel she’s one of your guests (that can obviously play piano fabulously!)
The entire experience was flawless
Liz is so professional! The booking element is seamless and Liz’s communication is timely and prompt! Liz is so kind and nothing ever feels like too much trouble or effort! The entire experience was flawless from start to finish (and this includes the endless kindness Liz demonstrated through COVID, when with no trouble she rebooked our date three times! I’m so happy we didn’t lose Liz through our rebooking process! Our day would not have been the same without her!)
Would you recommend Liz Hendry Wedding Pianist to others?
Absolutely! And I already have!! Liz and her music made our entire wedding day – from walking in to the ceremony room to leaving the wedding breakfast. Thank you so much!
Liz is such a talented lady who’s music gives you that extra special feeling to your wedding day. Her playing is so subtle but will leave such a memorable stamp on your day – not only for you as a couple but for your guests too. As a person, Liz is kind, warm, lovely and a complete professional from booking to the end of your big day! Liz feels like an extension of your guest list – she’s such a fabulous person! We can’t recommend having Liz be a part of your big day – she truly made ours and we’ll always be so thankful! Lucy and Lewis x
Amy and Ben Birch chose Liz Hendry to play the piano during their Mottram Hall Wedding in the summer. It was a wonderful family occasion and this couple had an amazing day.
Why did you book Liz for your Mottram Hall Wedding?
We visited Mottram Hall on an open day and as soon as we walked in, we noticed a romantic atmosphere and it was the live piano music that made everything feel magical. Liz was warm, welcoming, friendly and asked us if there was a particular song we wished to listen to. We asked for ‘perfect’ by Ed Sheeran and out of nowhere, she started playing it and it was truly amazing! We asked her to check her diary for us straight away!!!
What effect did she have on your wedding day?
Every single guest commented on how beautiful it was during the wedding reception and wedding breakfast. It was brilliant and really helped the day to feel magical.
How Professional was she?
Absolutely faultless!!!! Amazing from initial meeting until leaving us on the day.
Would you recommend her to others?
Absolutely! We have already been asked by one of our friends (who is due to marry next year) so we of course gave her your details/website straight away!!!
Having you play at our wedding was just an amazing part of the day and we would not change a single thing about it! When we asked you to play “Only Fools and Horses” as our entrance song, you were so flexible. We can safely say that listening to it being played for the first time, when we walked in the room, just made the moment feel so much more special and we have it captured on video to remember forever. Every single note was played to perfection and it added a little bit of character and personalisation to our day. We can’t thank you enough for everything you did from start to finish. When we initially had to postpone our wedding, due to the pandemic, you fitted in with our new date straight away and allowed us to few relaxed about everything.
Keep being yourself Liz – you’re truly a very talented pianist with a heart of gold and there will be so many more couples (both before and after us) who will feel the same way as us – truly blessed and lucky to have had to opportunity to incorporate your happiness, smiles and wonderful talent into the best day of our life!
We saw Liz at the Mere Court Hotel’s wedding fayre, and when she played ‘A Thousand Years’ it made us cry!
The ceremony was beautiful, it made things even more emotional when walking down the aisle, couldn’t hold in the tears! All the guests complimented the pianist and how amazing she was afterwards. She was extremely professional and polite.
We would recommend to friends and family in future.

What a scorcher!!! A heavenly wedding day experience for Tracey and Wayne at their Wrightington Wedding at Wrightington Hotel & Health Club in July 2021. https://www.wrightingtonhotel.co.uk/
Stunning bride Tracey at her Wrightington Wedding
This lovely couple had chosen a really interesting and fun mix of music from romance, to football, to military tunes. The highlight of the wedding was when Tracey walked in to ‘How long will I love you’ and I could hear the gasps as she looked ABSOLUTELY STUNNING in this amazing, stylish dress which I totally love!
This song by Ellie Goulding is a fantastic choice for a romantic wedding ceremony. Find out more about my top suggestions for wedding ceremonies by heading over to my wedding song list.
It’s been quite a while since my last visit here but Sean and the team were super organised and everyone commented on the fantastic service and delicious food!
It was great to meet and work with the guys from Trevor Matthews Wedding Photography who were capturing the events of the day.
Tracey left a lovely comment on my Facebook page
‘Liz I cannot thank you enough for your service yesterday. We had the most perfect day made even more special by your presence. You have been patient, helpful and a pleasure to work with through very tough times having to reorganise our wedding 3 times. You play beautifully and had me in tears playing ‘how long will I love you’ for my walk down the aisle. We will definitely be recommending you to everyone. Thanks again xx’

Beautiful brides Victoria and Amanda were married in Early July 2021 at Nunsmere Hall Hotel and what a fabulous wedding! It was my first time here and I absolutely loved it! http://Nunsmere.co.uk
This venue is stunning inside and out with a beautiful Hall for the wedding daytime, and a large marquee for the evening reception, or to host bigger weddings. The service here is second to none with very attentive staff and wedding co-ordination.
Lake District Pianist, Liz Hendry, had a wonderful day playing for Mr and Mrs Tudor at Merewood Hotel in the Lake District. What spectacular views and a beautiful wedding. Kirsty found Liz after a wedding fair when she was looking for a Lake District Pianist.
We found Liz through her husband who was playing at a wedding fair and I got in touch to see if she was available and willing to travel to the lakes. Thank God she was! Liz is so lovely and was happy to answer any questions we had before the day. We asked for songs from her repertoire but I also wanted my bridesmaids to walk down to the piano version of ‘May it be’ by Enya and it wasn’t a problem. I heard it playing before I walked down the aisle and it was beautiful. I chose to have Jonathan Cain’s version of the Bridal March and I don’t think I’ve had a feeling like it. Just before I walked down the aisle I heard the most beautifully played song and it made the experience absolutely perfect. I couldn’t have hoped for anything better. Liz then played for our drinks reception and wedding breakfast and got the whole place singing along to the Disney songs. A review by Mr and Mrs Grimes who were married at Bartle Hall Hotel in a beautiful ceremony outside with photography by Cathy Brown Photography. They enjoyed music from recommended Bartle Hall wedding pianist, Liz Hendry
Liz performed at our recent wedding on a glorious sunny day at our outdoor wedding ceremony! She very kindly agreed to learn a song we wanted, to play us down the aisle, which she did within days of us booking. She absolutely MADE our wedding day, arriving early so that all our guests received the ambience of her tinkering away as they had pre-ceremony drinks on the terrace, during the ceremony, right through canapés and photos up to our evening reception. She was so kind, friendly and courteous and everyone raved about how good she was! Absolutely first class performance – thanks for everything Liz! Love Mr and Mrs Grimes xxx
Possibly the most important decision for any couple about to marry, is choosing a song for walking down the aisle.
Who walks down the aisle and who waits?
Traditionally the groom waits for the bride at the alter, in church. With civil ceremonies the groom waits for the bride at the end of the aisle, where the registrars are placed. An old-fashioned tradition seems to be that the groom shouldn’t turn around and look at the bride until she is next to him but this is outdated, and I can’t imagine a bride doesn’t want to be seen by her groom as she walks down the aisle looking so beautiful! These days children are often included in this lovely moment which makes it all the more special.
Same Sex Weddings
In more recent years this walk down the aisle takes many forms, especially with same sex weddings. I have played at weddings where one partner has waited for the other or sometimes both partners walk down the aisle, either separately or together. This decision should be made based on making the ceremony feel special, and whatever makes both partners feel comfortable. One of the most important factors to consider when walking down the aisle is the song.
Popular in 2019 for walking down the aisle
I have compiled list of all the songs chosen for me to play on the piano, for walking down the aisle, during 2019.
The most chosen song, which has been popular for a number of years is ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri from the Twilight films. I played this for 15 wedding ceremony entrances this year. It was also requested by countless couples where I was playing during the drinks reception or wedding breakfast. It is a very popular and beautiful wedding song.
Also popular for walking down the aisle in 2019 was Pachelbel’s Canon (5 weddings) for a more traditional entrance. Jonathan Cain’s Bridal March (5 weddings) is also popular for a traditional entrance with a modern twist.
A Song For Walking Down The Aisle – 2019 list.
