Cheshire wedding pianist Liz Hendry was back at Sandhole Oakbarn to play on a beautiful sunny day for Joy and Ryan. The ceremony was in the amazing barn conducted by Cheshire East Registration service, or as they are widely known, Your Ceremony, with a gorgeous view of the Sandhole Lake in the background. https://yourceremony.org.uk/
Cheshire wedding pianist playing modern songs
Joy and Ryan were really keen to have modern music in their ceremony and Joy walked down the aisle to Liz’s version of ‘Symphony’ by Clean Bandit, which is a lovely choice and really unique. The exit song was ‘Clocks’ by Coldplay which is a great upbeat tune, full of energy for the Grand Exit. The piano at Sandhole Oakbarn is well looked after and in amazing condition so it’s always a pleasure to play it.
Due to the amazing weather, everyone headed outside for photos during the drinks reception where Liz had set up her portable piano under the clock tower to play and entertain the guests during drinks and canapés from Top Table, who provided the catering for this lovely Cheshire wedding. Liz continued with modern covers of popular songs, everything from Oasis, Louis Capaldi with some film music, dance tunes, and indie and rock thrown in. Andy Griffiths was there taking pictures and family shots in front of the lake, and capturing all the fun in a natural way as it happened on the day.

A review from Ryan and Joy
Ryan and Joy were kind enough to write a Google review a few days after the wedding which was really kind of them. It said,
“Liz is absolutely amazing if anyone is looking for a pianist to play at their wedding get in contact with Liz! She played on our wedding day at The Sandhole Oakbarn where she played a great selection of music which started the day off perfectly. Thank you!

It’s a pleasure to be a visiting Colshaw Hall Pianist. Here are 3 recent weddings there. It is a delight to work at such a stunning venue where there is a grand piano in the ceremony hall, and I can use my portable white baby grand to play in the main building for the drinks reception or wedding breakfast. https://www.colshawhall.com/
Colshaw Hall pianist- 3 recent weddings- Wedding 1
I had a wonderful time celebrating with Hannah and Tom at Colshaw Hall. I really enjoyed playing the Fleetwood Mac version of ‘Songbird’ for Hannah as she walked down the aisle, as well as some cool tunes for Tom including The Mandalorian Theme and The Super Mario Brothers Theme. I’m happy to learn one or two new songs for each bride and groom. I think it is important for the ceremony music to be a reflection of each couple!
It was great to see Harvey Films https://harveyfilms.com/ (thanks for the unexpected roadie help!!) and wonderful to work with Ian the toastmaster and Tracy from Colshaw Hall who are both really friendly, helpful and great fun.
Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Johnson!

Katherine and Andrew had the most amazing day at the very beautiful and luxurious Colshaw Hall in Cheshire. I loved playing the piano for their ceremony and drinks reception and what lovely guests they had who were enjoying the beautiful surroundings whilst celebrating with Mr and Mrs Scully. Katherine chose a gorgeous entrance piece which was the John Mayer version of ‘XO,’ which I loved arranging for her, especially the beautiful introduction. I was also pleased to play another of my favourite songs for the grand exit, ‘Clocks’ by Coldplay. It was beautiful in March at Colshaw Hall for the wedding of Shereen and Tom. I loved playing for their drinks reception and wedding breakfast. What a delight to be at this amazing venue and I was even lucky enough to have some delicious food provided by Barretts Event Caterers Ltd. https://www.barrettseventcaterers.com/
Shereen and Tom chose ‘Chase the sun’ by Planet Funk as a really cool entrance piece as they were announced into the room as The New Mr and Mrs Batchelor!
After a couple of postponements of her Mere Court Wedding, I was thrilled to finally play beautiful Laura down the aisle when she married her lovely partner Fez in the Arboreum. As you can see here they were married in front of this lovely window over looking the gardens at the Mere Court, which is just outside Knutsford. Find out more about Mere Court weddings here https://www.merecourt.co.uk/weddings/
They had chosen one of my favourite songs ‘A Million Dreams!’ which I played for Laura to walk down the aisle.
Friends and family had travelled from all over the UK to celebrate with them and they enjoyed amazing food, drinks and lots of fun here at this wonderful Mere Court wedding. I played throughout the meal for them and then I particularly enjoyed the speeches which were really entertaining.
Laura was kind enough to add this lovely review on my Facebook page.
“Liz played at our wedding in December. She was absolutely wonderful! We had Liz play throughout our meal and it was so relaxing to hear for the guests. Liz plays such a range of songs so nothing was too much trouble when we asked for a request. Thank you so much Liz 💓 xxx”
Wyresdale Park weddings are held in a collection of beautiful rustic barns set in rolling countryside on the outskirts of Scorton, Lancashire. There is a lovely ceremony barn with amazing acoustics, perfect for couples who are looking at having live music in their wedding ceremony. My white piano looks fantastic in this room.
Wyresdale Park Weddings with piano music
As well as in the ceremony room, the piano can be moved around throughout the day. It’s a lovely option to have a pianist throughout the wedding breakfast too which adds an ambience throughout the meal, without dominating too much, and allowing people to still chat. It also adds a talking point as many people naturally play ‘Name that tune.’ Here is the piano set up for a wedding breakfast. The beautiful flowers are provided by Bluebells and Daisies, who are based at Wyresdale Park Weddings.
Maria and Chris booked me to play throughout their wedding breakfast and had an amazing first meal together as husband and wife, with fantastic food from The Striped Kitchen, who provide the catering here. https://www.thestripedkitchen.co.uk/

Special Arrangements at Wyresdale Park Weddings
I played for the ceremony and wedding breakfast for Georgia and Ethan who wanted really unique music in their ceremony to reflect their relationship. I did special arrangements of ‘Take on the World’ by You and Me at Six and ‘The World Could End with You’ by Llunr. It was lovely to play music that meant so much to them.
I received a lovely card from them in the post.
Traditional music for Wyresdale Park weddings
In March, Lauren and Daniel booked me to play for them all day, and Lauren choose to walk down the aisle to the more traditional option of ‘Canon in D.’ This made for an absolutely beautiful entrance. They then wanted a more alternative mix of music during the meal which included Indie, dance and rock music.
Check out this amazing venue at https://wyresdaleweddings.co.uk/ It’s such an amazing place where you can celebrate in style with everything under one roof, lovely outside areas, and very attentive staff to make your wedding day perfect. Wyresdale Park Weddings
2023 began with the most beautiful wedding for Lancashire Pianist Liz Hendry.
Suzanna and Ewan became the new Mr and Mrs Simpson at the amazing Bartle Hall Hotel. What a beautiful winter wedding.
Suzanna has great taste and picked ‘I’m Kissing You’ as her entrance music – one of the most emotional and dramatic bridal entrance pieces!!! If you are looking for a Lancashire Pianist, Liz can set up her Dutchgrand white baby grand piano anywhere to play beautiful piano music as you walk down the aisle.
Ewan and Suzanna had a fantastic day managed by the amazing team here at Bartle Hall Hotel. https://bartlehall.co.uk/ They added some great unique touches to their wedding, the highlight being a blessing from their friend who is the Pastor at their church. There were some amazing room decorations and lots of treats and activities for the kids. This was a day filled with music, love and fun!!!

Lancashire Pianist Review
“Highly Recommend. We met Liz at a wedding fair at Bartle Hall in May 2022. From the moment we heard her playing Bryan Adams as we walked into the venue we knew we wanted to speak to her and find out more. We knew that having Liz playing on our wedding day would be special and she was. Our wedding was 14/1/23 and everyone loved her and the different songs that were being played. Something for all ages. We can’t imagine what the day would have been like without Liz there. Thank you Liz for making our day special. Ewan and Suzanna Simpson x
I am delighted to be one of the recommended suppliers at the Mere Court Hotel near Knutsford. I can often be found playing the piano at the regular open evenings or wedding fairs. Both myself and my husband Mark the Piano Guy https://www.thepianoguy.co.uk love playing at The Mere Court as it is a very versatile welcoming and pretty wedding venue in Cheshire. https://www.merecourt.co.uk
Using a Piano at The Mere Court
When booking a pianist at The Mere Court, there are several areas available for your wedding ceremony and my piano can be set up in any of them. I always work with a ‘Dutch grand’ electric white baby grand piano which is portable and can be moved around the venue as necessary. Moving the piano takes about 10 minutes. Couples often book me for their ceremony and drinks reception, or their ceremony and wedding breakfast, or some book me for the whole of their daytime. I am keen to help take the stress out of choosing ceremony music, by offering a FaceTime consultation to give advice and play examples for my clients.
Music for the drinks reception adds a lovely, classy ambience during photographs and mingling, and music throughout the wedding breakfast adds a beautiful soundtrack to the meal, adding background music without dominating too much.
The conservatory is a beautiful light room that is often used for larger weddings ceremonies and is used for most wedding breakfasts. I can set up anywhere within this room.
Another popular ceremony location at the Mere Court is the Arboreum which is a lovely room for up to 80 guests. I have played for many ceremonies using my Dutch Grand in the Arboreum but if you are close to capacity on your numbers I can also use a white piano on a stand which takes up much less room.
This recently refurbished room has a lovely contemporary look and can hold up to 100 guests. It is a great setting for exchanging your vows.
Outside in the Gardens
In the summer months, when the weather is fine, a beautiful option is to get married in the gardens at The Mere Court. The grounds are truly amazing for an unforgettable wedding ceremony. I am able to set up and play for your wedding outside as long as it is dry.
I have also played for drinks receptions outside at The Mere Court on dry days. If the weather is changeable and guest are popping in and out of the bar area, I can set up in the bar with the windows and door open, so that the music can be heard all around.
Feedback from recent weddings at The Mere Court
Amy and Josh Healey
I was delighted to play for the wedding of Amy and Josh Healey.
They got married in the Dunkerley and had a lovely wedding breakfast in the Conservatory. Song choices included Can’t Help Falling in Love (Elvis Presley) Pointless (Lewis Capaldi) Perfect (Ed Sheeran) Marry You (Bruno Mars) and The Climb (Miley Cyrus.)
Amy was kind enough to leave me a google review saying, “Liz played for our ceremony and wedding breakfast on Sunday and well she was absolutely amazing! Blended in so well and the music was just lovely. Such a lovely lady was a pleasure to have her at our special day. Would recommend her to everyone! Xx“
Mr and Mrs Brooman were married recently in a stunning outside ceremony, and I was delighted to play for them all day, for the outside ceremony, outside drinks reception, and the delicious wedding breakfast in the conservatory.
Song choices included A Thousand Years (Christina Perri) Heaven (DJ Sammy) and Symphony (Clean Bandit.) Michelle was kind enough to give feedback on my Facebook page, saying “Thank you so much Liz for playing at our wedding. You was absolutely amazing and everyone commented on what a special touch you was to our wedding day. I couldn’t recommend you enough to anyone.”
Alesha and Rob McMahon
It was lovely to play for Alesha and Rob in the Mere court bar area for the drinks reception and the wedding breakfast in the conservatory.
Mr and Mrs McMahon asked for a wide selection of music during their wedding breakfast. I included Sky Full of Stars (Coldplay) Wings (Birdy) Wildest Dreams (Taylor Swift) and One Day Like This (Elbow) Alesha wrote a recommendation on my Facebook page saying, “After seeing Liz at a wedding fair we knew that she would be a wonderful addition to our wedding day. Liz Played during our drinks reception and wedding breakfast and lots of our family and friends passed on how much Liz added to the atmosphere. Thanks so much Liz xx” For more of my reviews visit https://www.lizhendry.co.uk/category/reviews/
Sophie was kind enough to write me a lovely review on my Facebook page about her dream wedding at Mottram Hall.
“Liz played at our wedding September 2022. From the moment we met Liz and listened to her music at Mottram open day back in 2020 we knew she was perfect! We had to post pone our day to covid and Liz was able to move our day to the new date 😊 Liz is so down to earth and gave us lots of recommendations on songs and listened to our thoughts on what we liked. I had a call with her a couple of weeks before the big day and Liz played our walk down the aisle song and entrance song to make sure it was perfect. On our day she played absolutely beautifully. All of our guests commented on how lovely it was to listen to through the wedding breakfast. Highly highly recommend!!! Liz you are amazing!!” See more reviews on my reviews page https://www.lizhendry.co.uk/category/reviews/
The Villa at Wrea Green is a country house hotel in the beautiful Lancashire countryside. There is a beautiful hall for ceremonies, a piano lounge for drinks reception and a fantastic purpose built pavilion for wedding breakfasts and evening receptions. You can often find myself or my husband Mark the Piano Guy https://www.thepianoguy.co.uk/ playing at their open events and wedding fairs as recommended suppliers.
Here is the ceremony hall at The Villa at Wrea Green
In April Mr and Mrs Webster had an amazing wedding at the The Villa Wrea Green. I played for an emotional ceremony and there was a very fun crowd supporting this lovely couple. (Plus some unusual, gorgeous, furry guests. Alpacas!) After playing for the ceremony in the hall, I played during the drinks reception in the piano lounge.
Bartle Hall was the setting for this beautiful winter wedding and Claire and Tim were an amazing and lovely couple to work for with great taste in music. Featured songs were ‘True’ by Spandau Ballet and ‘Hey Ho’ by the Lumineers. Their guests really knew how to celebrate and were all having a great time.

Simply The Best – Bartle Hall Pianist
Myself and Tim cannot thank Liz enough for making our wedding day the day it was. It was the most easiest decision to make on hearing her play at the Bartle Hall open day back in April, as soon as we heard her we wanted her! We booked her there and then, had a lovely call with her to go over the song choices and she just got us and what we’re about. We wanted a song from the Lumineers for the brides entrance song. It wasn’t listed on her repertoire but Liz did it for us, absolutely loved it!!!
Such a talented Pianist and can literally play anything. She gave us goose pimples throughout the ceremony and all through dinner, everyone in the room loved her and commented. Thank you Liz for such a wonderful vibe at our wedding, you were definitely meant to be and so glad we saw you when we did. You’re amazing! Thank you! Claire and Tim xxx
As a recommended Heaton House Farm Pianist, Liz can often be found there playing for beautiful weddings, or playing at one of their experience days, where Heaton House Farm invite their brides and grooms to meet suppliers that they recommend.
Here are two recent reviews from couples who booked Liz to play at their Heaton House farm wedding.
Mr and Mrs Bani booked Liz Hendry to play the piano at their wedding. Here is what they had to say about Liz’s playing after the wedding.
“We saw how fabulous Liz’s videos were and really wanted her to add that extra something to our day Our wedding day felt so romantic and the atmosphere was so lovely, Liz did such a great job and was very professional. Highly recommended. Thank you Liz.”
Mrs Morton’s Father sent this feedback after booking Liz for his daughters wedding.
“We saw and heard Liz playing at a wedding fayre and after a quick discussion around the sort of music we were looking for and atmosphere we were looking to create, the options that Liz gave us fitted perfectly. Fantastic addition to our daughters wedding day, appreciated by all. Couldn’t have been any more professional or helpful. A big thank you for making the day that extra bit special.”
